The '70's popular sitcom 'One Day at a Time' still holds memories for me. The mother, Bonnie Franklin, had the boyish hair cut. The brunette bombshell daughter, Valerie Bertinelli who later went on to marry rock legend Eddie Van Halen and... you know what I'm not doing this lol, I'm not going to list every actor on the show you can Google them yourselves. Netflix has done a complete remake of show and its somewhat intriguing. I will try and not spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.
Ahh where to begin?.. First the family is from Cuba and features the lovely albeit older Rita Moreno as the grandmother. The rest of cast is a hodgepodge of new talent. The premise is the same as older version, single mother and two kids. The eldest is a 15 y/o daughter who's a feminist activist ahead of her time and the younger a 13 y/o boy more concerned about his looks than grades. Next is the superintendent Snyder who seems to be a middle aged yuppie whose parents own the building. Sets the tone for popping in/ out whenever he wants much like the original Snyder.
The show is 13 episodes and touches on a cpl modern day issues but lacks overall stamina to make it on regular networks. All in all a good wknd killer if stuck at home with nothing else to watch. My Netflix rating is 3 out of 5 stars. Seriously gotta create a G4R emoji for ratings.
