How Technology Has Ruined Our Lives Pt. 1

'Do you ever sit back and think back to 2006? Just 10 years ago I had a Motorola flip phone and it was top of the line, it wasn't quite a RAZR but the next best thing. I had a PC with Windows XP and a PS2. I hadn't quite graduated to Xbox 360 but I had discovered online gaming already. I enjoyed titles such as Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield 2 and 2142 on the PC and played Conflict Desert Storm, Metal Gear Solid, and Area 51 on my PS2.  Now mind you I was only 13 and had a MySpace account. Now I look back and think how ridiculous I was with my JNCO pants and chains on both sides with my obsession for black clothing but none the less life was simpler. I am not saying this just cause I was young, I am saying it because technology hadn't destroyed the modern world yet. Now we have tablets, gigantic phones that do everything and I nobody owns a desktop PC like they use to. People mostly have a laptop if they need a computer and even then most tablets can do everything a laptop can. Social media has ruined our lives because now EVERYBODY has a Facebook except for the lucky few who haven't sold their soul... Yet. Back when I had a flip phone, you wanted the smallest phone out there. As long as it could call and text and fit in your pocket it was golden. Granted most flip phones had a camera and we were satisfied with that. Now, if a phone can't stream Netflix, run Facebook, and take pictures and video better than what Paramount puts on the big screen it's worthless to us. When you think about it, it's really.. Sad. I see people everywhere looking down and caring less about being smoked by a car or struck by lightning. Hell, I went to AC/DC a week ago and during the show you could look around see people snap chatting or face booking. Technology has made us forget how important actual LIFE is. Most people seem to care about that new notification they've received or whatever 20 second video popped up in their feed. Now I know everybody is going to have different opinions on this subject but just think about it. We have light switches, radios, and even cars that can be controlled by our phones. Now when I say cars I mean that their are remote start options out there that can be controlled with your phone. I don't mean you can actually drive a car with one, not yet anyways. Maybe I was just born at the wrong time but it's madness. There is nothing wrong with owning the latest IPhone or Galaxy, having tablet instead of a PC but when it takes over your life and becomes your top priority then there's a problem. Hell nobody even calls people anymore, it's all done by texting. In fact, I typed this on my phone. Let that sink in some but like I said, maybe I was just born in the wrong era but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. My next topic to follow up this article will be about social media and how it hurts more than it helps. HAVE A GREAT DAY! -- B!
