G4R's newest feature 'Where are they now?' debuts with this 90's rapper NonChalant aka Tanya Pointer. Her music was a staple on the East Coast a couple decades ago and still enjoyed by many to this day. Hits like '5 O'clock' and 'Until the day' took her to the top in the rap genre and garnered her a #1 song. Her songs were from real life experiences and portrayed a powerful message.
A musician's career, much like a sport athlete, can be cut short at any time. It's not always injury/ health related but a combination of things. Trends change, personal issues come into play and ultimately a question of self worth. What good is selling your soul for 15 minutes of fame only to be haunted by it for the rest of your life? Anyway as of this writing we don't know the full story of Tanya's rise and fall, this is a 2-part story. For now enjoy the informative research our Lenora Haynes did on her. Our second installment will include a live podcast from Ms. Pointer.... stay tuned. -James. Lenora's article
