What can we say about a guy who envision himself playing suspended upside-down!? Well 'insane' comes to mind among other names. Serious, who has the mind set to imagine this crazy stunt let alone the balls to pull it off. Mr Lee... we salute you, kudos!!!
I saw a biography of Motley Crue's 'The Dirt' about a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. They came up in the 80's during the hair revolution and honestly I thought it would be a half-baked glam shoot with random backstage footage of the group. Instead what I got was a full length biopic with actors and portrayals. I was a musician during that era and certainly no stranger to them. Heck I even had the Circus mags with all the glam pic centerfolds.
Anyway back to the movie. The first thing that caught my attention was Mick Mars comment about a debilitating disease he had, very powerful. He's always looked a little ghostly but I figured that was his gimmick. Then there was the much publicized car wreck with Vince and Razzle, Nikki's overdose and the passing of Vince's daughter. All equally moving. Getting back to the actors it speaks volumes that they remained constant. Tommy Lee comes off as a star struck kid, Vince an overzealous singer in a popular cover band and of course Nikki... the visionary. Because these actors stay throughout the movie you tend to form a bond and overlook their real-life counterparts. Yes there were a few cameos with the managers and agents but all in all, job well done. I won't give away the ending or details and the movie is currently on NetFlix. Do yourself a favor and give it a spin. Even if you aren't a Crue fan you're sure to find its an entertaining flick.
